Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator leads the development and implementation of integrated marketing and communications strategies that elevate the visibility, reputation, and impact of the South Asia Institute (SAI). This role ensures a cohesive institutional voice and strong brand identity across all platforms while driving audience growth, donor engagement, and community participation.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Brand & Cross-Department Alignment

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies aligned with SAI’s mission and strategic goals.

  • Lead cross-departmental marketing efforts in collaboration with SAI leadership to ensure unified messaging and a consistent institutional voice.

  • Serve as steward of SAI’s brand identity, maintaining visual and editorial consistency across digital, print, and on-site materials.

  • Plan and implement campaigns to increase attendance, memberships, donations, sponsorships, venue rentals, and online engagement.

  • Manage advertising platforms, community partnerships, and promotional outreach initiatives.

Development Communications

  • Partner with the development and leadership to support fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, membership drives, and special events.

  • Draft and design fundraising appeals, sponsorship materials, impact reports, and donor communications.

  • Ensure all donor-facing messaging aligns with SAI’s brand and institutional positioning.

Digital & Content Management

  • Develop and manage social media strategy across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms.

  • Create and produce multimedia content, including photography and short-form video at exhibitions and events.

  • Write and distribute e-newsletters promoting exhibitions, programs, fundraising initiatives, donor and volunteer engagement.

  • Track and report key performance metrics (engagement, reach, conversions, audience growth) to inform strategy.

  • Maintain and update website content, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and brand consistency.

Public Relations & Institutional Support

  • Manage media relationships and develop press releases, pitches, and promotional materials.

  • Coordinate press events. coverage, interviews, and institutional announcements.

  • Supervise interns and volunteers as needed and provide on-site marketing support during exhibitions and programs.

  • Perform additional communications and event-related duties as assigned.

Technical Skills Required

  • Strong writing, editing, and formatting skills.

  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok).

  • Experience with email marketing tools (Constant Contact).

  • Graphic design skills (Canva required; Adobe Creative Suite a plus).

  • Familiarity with website CMS platforms ( Squarespace, Wix).

  • Knowledge of analytics tools (e.g., Meta Insights, Google Analytics).

  • Comfort with basic photo and video editing for digital content
